I remember when growing up, we played a game called “follow the leader “. The object of the game was to mimic or follow the person in the front of the line. Whatever the leader did (e.g., hop, skip, jump, stand on one leg or spin around) everyone in the line did the exact same thing.

In order to be an effective leader, you must first be a good follower.

WHAT IS A GOOD FOLLOWER:
The Apostle Paul said,”follow me as I follow Christ”. Godly leaders who follow God’s directives will not lead you wrong. We have a quote at New Covenant Life Ministry – “Where the Leader goes, so goes the People”. Because when you walk behind a good leader, you benefit from the overflow.

I believe that people are looking for LEADERS. That special person who stands out in the crowd.

Yes, we have accomplished some forward strides. But unfortunately, as we watched the riots and the accelerated violence in the city of Baltimore and even across our Nation, we realize that we still have a long way to go.

LEADERS ARE DEVELOPED:
-Some people are natural born leaders
-Others are appointed to leadership positions

You must be developed. So in order to be elevated, your faithfulness and dedication will be monitored. That’s when promotion comes.

IN MY CONCLUSION
I challenge you to first be a good follower and if one day you are promoted to a Leadership position, people will follow you.
