Mark 10:45 (KJV)- “Even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
Are you familiar with the phrase, “What have you done for me lately?” As Christians, God asks the same of us. Our Christian life should demonstrate serving, being submissive to God and to one another. Serving to give our lives away to others as Jesus did for us…through his blood, sacrifice and his example of living a sin-free life so that we may live the same. How humble do you think God had to be even as the Messiah? He ransomed His own life in death for sins that were not His, so that we may live! Through His mercy, we find grace. Serving in ministry is a gift of love and should be done willfully and without selfish ambition, motives, merit or hidden agendas. We’re not saved by our service, but for our service. If you’re not serving, you’re just existing. An unopened gift is useless. We must serve out of love. If we’re doing what we love, then no one must motivate us to do it. The importance of things can be measured by the amount of time we give to it. The greatest gift you can give someone is your time. When you give your time, you are making a sacrifice. Sacrifice is the essence of love.
